ERT SAR (Emergency Response Team) is a domestic UK and International RESILIENCE, EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS & DISASTER MANAGEMENT Search and Rescue Organization. It is also an NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL UMBRELLA Membership Body.

Public Training Courses

From now until April 2008!

ERT SAR are pleased to offer public access 'Foundation Courses' and certification training to people interested in developing SAR skills or simply attending one of our training courses. We are offering certification training to  the 'public' so over the coming months and we shall try to list more and more of our courses for you.  Dates will be published on this site.

What is a "Foundation Course"?

A Foundation Course is an ERT Search and Rescue platform or standard level training course required for members to start operating in one of the areas or levels.  (For example to be Operational - one has to do the OTC. To be in the Specialist Team - one has to do the STC, etc.,)

It is available to all members to allow them to learn about ERT and how to function and operate in a SAR environment at that level.

(There will be 'Blue Light' driver training - which is considered 'Advanced' but will be offered to ALL organizations, government or otherwise and individuals who can prove probable benefit and use from attending this course.) 

Examples of the courses available for public are:


OTC: So ERT SAR can work operationally in an ERT SAR environment

    Example of further ongoing courses at that level:

  • Radio Operator (VHF) 
  • Level 1 & Level 2 ERT SAR Driver
  • Tactical Communications - Professionally Dealing with the public and diffusing aggressive behaviour inc. cross cultural communications.


STC: So members can start to specialise in Tech. Units (except Medical)

    Example of further ongoing courses at that level:

  • Swiftwater Rescue Technician
  • Rope Rescue Technician
  • Scout Reconnaissance Unit


ITC: So they can deploy on International Disaster Missions.

    Example of further ongoing courses at that level:

  • United Nations CMCoord
  • UN OCHA
  • Heavy Urban Search & Rescue (HUSAR)


Also available for public access will be:


Medical & First Aid Training

RYA First Aid at Sea (Marine environment.)

HSE - FAW (Health & Safety Executive - First Aid at Work)

Wilderness First Aid

Tactical Communications Training

Driver Training - Levels 1 to 5 (including Blue Light)

Swiftwater Rescue - Level 1: Awareness Level NFPA

Swiftwater Rescue - Level 2: Operations Level NFPA

Operational Training Course

How does it differ from the ERT SAR Course?
The stringent uniform standards and the 5.1 mile fitness test is waived.
No spot checks of uniform, equipment checks and SOPs.
Candidates can 'opt out' of portions - such as water or rope access, etc.,

How is it the same as the ERT Version?
All the same academic portions as listed are covered as if a member.
All the same 'practicals' are also covered.

Prerequisites:
None

Student Receives:
Diploma - Course 150 page Manual,Course Critique, Badge and Pen

Longer Version:  One Week
Intensive Version: 3
days

Specialist Training Course

How does it differ from the ERT SAR version?
The helicopter portion of flying is run on a civilian facility - not on a military base.
No stringent uniform standards and the fitness test is waived.
Candidates can 'opt out' of portions - such as water or rope access, etc.,

How is it the same as the ERT version
All the same acamedic portions as listed are covered as if a member.
All the same practicals are also covered.
It is residential and physical fitness is required - but not tested (pass or fail).

Prerequisites:
The OTC

Student Receives:
Diploma - Course 170 page Manual,Course Critique, Badge and Pen

Longer Version:  One Week
Intensive Version: 3
days
