OPERATIONAL TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT
We are currently developing ERT SAR Operational teams around the country with 3 applications from International teams to convert to ERT SAR.
This process takes a while due to the intensive set up and training required.We will be proud to announce these on the website when they are ready.
National and International Teams must train to established standards and pass rigorous testing.

1 Association Members (Process time – week or so)
- Straight Association Members.
- Virtually anyone can apply for this level of membership.
- Not a lot of screening.
- Should be involved in SAR or supporting of it.
- May be military or emergency services
- No CRB checks – application includes all personal / business contact details
- Will not be called to work in UK or International as ERT Operational Member
2 Operational Members (Process time – 1 - 3 months or so)
You may retain your ‘own’ identity as a team
Screened Association Members – Operational (Regional / Specialised Teams)
Usually teams or members who are considered ‘working’ SAR groups / individuals
Must satisfy standards and adequate paperwork prior to acceptance and pay their fees.
Retain their identity and operational setup – but with strong association links to ERT
May be called in extreme situations – to work in UK to support response & ERT ICS
Would not be called / required to work abroad on International Missions
- Being enhanced CRB cleared to work with children & vulnerable people,
- Having a Mission Statement
- A constitution
- Application and Membership Process
- No less than 5 members in a Team when starting out
- An HSE document
- Training Plan
- An equal opportunities policy – in context with SAR activities
- A standard level of fitness for members
- An SOP Document (to establish organization procedures for safety and training)
3 ERT Member Team (Process time – Up to 12 months or so)
You apply, train as and become an ERT team - rated level 1 to 5 according to response.
(i.e., Operational to SAR Tech - either separately or in addition to current response.)
As Operational Members (above) but team adopts full look & operational capability of ERT SAR. If a conversion team - may wear their organization patch on uniform.
Full ERT Operational Teams require a minimum of 5 members to start a local unit - preferably 10 with 2 nominated leaders - prior to commencement of training.
Subscribes to ERT SAR High Standards, Training and SOPs.
- Works from the ERT OTC and Ops Manual as a basic standard (which in cludes all Incident Command Forms, Leadership, Medical and Technical Rescue items.)
Full ERT SAR teams should run according to established methods as an ERT Team.
Full application process and training of applicant teams and their members.
Commitment to attend required meetings and training.
Wears full blue ERT SAR No. 2 dress uniforms and ranks and wears ERT SAR I.D.
Would be called operationally for Primary Call Outs in the UK and abroad according to level trained.
* 2007 - 2008 Financial grants will be allocated to ERT Member Teams (£100, £250, £500 and £1000)
